PURPOSE
This administrative item is intended to provide City Council with an update on the upcoming public outreach strategy for the City’s first comprehensive Sustainability Plan. The strategy will include a short survey and two in-person outreach events that will give residents an option to engage directly with the City’s Sustainability Coordinator and have access to educational materials. These events will collect data on the community’s sustainability priorities which will be incorporated into the Sustainability Plan draft.

BACKGROUND
The City’s Sustainability Coordinator and the City’s internal sustainability team have worked together to complete the planning phase of the City’s first comprehensive Sustainability Plan. During this time, staff have conducted gap analyses to identify current and potential sustainability programming and have reviewed staff capacity for the implementation of future programming. The plan is now moving into the public engagement phase, where residents will be asked to provide feedback on their sustainability priorities. Once the public engagement phase has concluded, the results will be included in the draft plan and presented to City Council.
