BACKGROUND/HISTORY

The Budget & Performance Team has worked to breakdown information into digestible segments that will be presented in partnership with department directors.

The expected schedule is as follows:

•                     Budget Process Overview

•                     General Fund

•                     Special Revenue Funds

•                     Capital Fund

•                     Parks Capital Fund

•                     Utilities Funds

•                     Internal Service Funds

•                     Next Steps

The recommended 2025 budget represents a decrease from 2024 for the City of Brighton. This is primarily due to 2024 including $20M in transfers from the General Fund to the Capital and Parks Capital Funds to cover costs of large capital projects over the next few years. The recommended 2026 budget sees an increase again due primarily to an additional $10M transfer to the Capital Fund to cover continuing costs of large projects.

The 2025 and 2026 recommended budgets provide for continuing operations and add additional budget to cover the operations of new city facilities, increases to services and supplies related to inflation, and additional capital projects including construction of the new Rec Plex, the expansion of the Recreation Center, and the reconstruction of 4th avenue. This budget also provides for continuation of many in progress projects, including Bridge Street Widening, Colorado Front Range Trail, and final payments on the Municipal Service Center.
