PURPOSE

To discuss an update to the Legacy Pathway (Memorial Parkway) Policy.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Presently, under the City Council’s Policy for Naming of Public Amenities and Park & Recreation Facilities, plaques considered for inclusion on Legacy Pathway (Memorial Parkway) are first recommended by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, then presented to City Council at a study session, before finally being considered by resolution at a regular meeting. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, through City staff, would like for the City Council to consider a modification to the policy, so that inclusion of a plaque on the Legacy Pathway (Memorial Parkway) would be considered solely by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends approving the resolution updating the policy that would allow the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to vote on and make final approval on all Brighton Legacy Pathway Plaque nominations.
