BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Observatory Park is a 10.8 acre park located at Bromley Lane and S. 22nd Ave.  The park was built in the mid 90’s and the original playground is still in use.  This is the oldest playground in Brighton’s park system. We are looking to replace this outdated playground structure with a new, modern playground.

Formal proposals were requested from qualified playground installation vendors. The work to be completed includes: New pour-in-place surfacing and an astronomy themed playground with ADA accessible sensory panel features.

Formal proposals were received May 11, 2021.  Five (5) firms submitted proposals for this project. All proposals were reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Department.

The five (5) firms submitting proposals are:

A to Z Recreation - $215,000.00

Rocky Mountain Recreation Inc. - $214,847.80

Churchich Recreation LLC - $177,861.00

The Playwell Group, INC - $214,977.47

Star Playgrounds - $215,000.00

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Sufficient appropriation exists for the project, with $225,000 budgeted this year.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the request to issue an award to Star Playgrounds as the lowest, most responsive and responsible proposer for $215,000.
