PURPOSE
Adopting a Resolution for naming the Circle Drive located in Elmwood Cemetery, 14800 Old Brighton Road, Brighton, Colorado, "Neal Nahler Way".
BACKGROUND
City Council has adopted a Resolution establishing a policy for Park Naming. The City Clerk received one Park Naming Petition for the naming of the Circle Drive in Elmwood Cemetery, see attached map, "Neal Nahler Way". Neal Nahler was the Cemetery Sexton for the City of Brighton for 25 years. During his tenure many additions and improvements were made to Elmwood Cemetery. The City purchased Fairview Cemetery and made significant improvements to Fairview with Neal's leadership. The Park and Recreation Advisory Board has reviewed the Park Naming Petition and determined it has met all the requirements of the Park Naming Policy.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board held a public meeting on March 4, 2015 to solicit additional input on the proposed name. The Park and Recreation Advisory Board received no additional names at the public meeting. At the Park and Recreation Advisory Board meeting on March 4, 2015 the Park and Recreation Advisory Board unanimously approved a motion to recommend to the City Council that the Circle Drive located in Elmwood Cemetery, 14800 Old Brighton Road, Brighton, Colorado be named "Neal Nahler Way".
The City will place a Street naming sign at the intersection of the Circle Drive.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost to install a sign at the Circle Drive is estimated at Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars.
