PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of a resolution approving the placement of a plaque on Brighton Legacy Pathway recognizing Gil Padilla for his service to the Brighton Community.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Gilbert Padilla has had a positive lasting impact on the Brighton Community. Gilbert was a cornerstone of the PAL Wrestling program, a mentor to countless youth who went on to attend college, and a devoted community volunteer known for his quiet generosity and service. He volunteered at Almost Home, dedicating his time and efforts to their programs. Together, this recognition reflects Padilla’s enduring legacy of leadership, compassion, and commitment to the community.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The purchase and installation of the plaque, stone, and landscape of a memorial along the path in Legacy Pathway costs approximately $1,500 and will come from the Parks and Recreation capital fund. Funding is available yearly for projects of this nature.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approving the resolution to place a plaque on Legacy Pathway honoring Gilbert Padilla for his service to the Brighton community.
