PURPOSE
Requesting City Council’s approval for the procurement of 24-008741 Fiber Optic Cable Installation by awarding a contract to Communication Construction Engineering, deemed the most responsive and responsible bidder of the six bids received in response to the published solicitation, and approving the resolution giving the City Manager, or designee, authority to sign the contract.  Per City Code Section 3-8-30(b): “All materials, services, and construction contracts, except as otherwise provided in this Article, with an estimated cost greater than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) shall be awarded through the formal solicitation procedure by the City Council.  After due notice inviting bids, purchase orders and contracts shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.”

 

BACKGROUND

IT Staff require underground conduit and fiber optic cable to connect critical City infrastructure to the City’s data and communications network.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Staff intend to award six fiber optic installation projects to bidder #1, Communications Construction Engineering, for a total amount $633,058.00. The awarded amount is appropriated in the 2024 capital budget.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the approval of the resolution to begin installation of the fiber optic projects.
