PURPOSE
A Resolution authorizing the City of Brighton to enter into a Grant Agreement with the State of Colorado Department of Local Affairs, for grant funding in the amount not to exceed $700,000.00 for the "Brighton Historic Depot Rehabilitation and Adaptive Reuse" and authorizing the City Manager or his designee to sign and execute the Grant Agreement; and setting forth other related details.

BACKGROUND
In early 2018, staff became aware that the historic train depot in Brighton was listed for sale. The property owner approached the City regarding purchasing the property. After an accelerated due diligence period, the City closed on the acquisition of this property in May.

As part of the due diligence, staff completed visioning on how to activate and reuse this building, integrating it more effectively with the adjacent Armory and library. In April 2018, the City submitted a grant request to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) in the amount of $700,000 to assist with this rehabilitation. In August 2018, a small representation from the City went to Cortez, Colorado to make a formal presentation as part of the grant review process.
