BACKGROUND

City Council requested City staff conduct a search for City Attorney.  22 candidates applied for the position.  City Council appointed Councilmembers Cushing and Humbert to work with designated City staff to review all the applications, conduct pre-interviews with selected candidates and make recommendations for semi-finalist interviews.  4 candidates were selected for in-person interviews by all of City Council.  Council conducted in-person interviews of the 4 semi-finalist candidates on June 4, 2021.  Council then instructed City staff to conduct background checks and reference checks on selected semi-finalist candidates.  Council reviewed all the materials and instructed City staff to hire Attorney Cory Hoffman to negotiate a contract with candidate Alicia Calderón.  City Council is now ready to finalize the decision to appoint a City Attorney.  At all times during the process, City Council was apprised of the activities and had access to all related documents.  Attorney Cory Hoffman is available to answer any questions.
