Through:                                          Michael P. Martinez, City Manager

Prepared By:                                          Alicia Calderón, City Attorney

Date Prepared:                     February 19, 2025

PURPOSE
To present a resolution supporting consideration of a proclamation supporting the National Western Stock Show and welcoming visitors by keeping holiday lights lit until the end of the Stock Show.

BACKGROUND

City Council requested a policy to allow holiday lights throughout the City to remain lit in January until the end of the Stock Show. A draft policy was considered by City Council at the study session on February 11, 2025. The City Council had differing opinions on whether a policy is needed. Instead of a policy, the City Council is asked to consider a resolution approving consideration of an annual proclamation regarding the National Western Stock Show and showing support by keeping holiday lights lit. If the Resolution is approved, the Proclamation would be presented to the City Council each winter recognizing the National Western Stock Show and encouraging residents to join the City in keeping holiday lights up until the end of the Stock Show.
