PURPOSE
To consider a resolution acknowledging that there are not sufficient funds in the Stormwater Enterprise to complete a critical piece of stormwater infrastructure called the North Outfall System and also authorizing staff to submit an application for grant funding to complete the remainder of the project.
BACKGROUND
The North Outfall System services a large portion of the northern part of the core City. Per master drainage plans created in conjunction with Urban Drainage, this outfall system is undersized and flows at maximum capacity during even smaller rain events. This creates greater potential for negative stormwater impacts to customers in this area.
The City has been working with Urban Drainage to accumulate sufficient funds to complete this project; however, this is a slow process and will likely be many years before there are sufficient funds available to complete even Phase 2 of the project.
The expected total project cost is approximately $7 million dollars. $1,125,528.05 has been spent to date. With the adoption of an IGA Amendment with Urban Drainage allocating additional funds to the project, there is only $272,820.17 remaining in the project budget.
