PURPOSE
Requesting City Council's approval for the procurement of 23-007963 Design Services for Sable Boulevard Improvements by awarding a contract to JR Engineering, LLC, deemed the most responsive and responsible bidder of the five (5) bids received in response to the posted solicitation, and approving the resolution giving the City Manager, or designee, authority to sign the contract. Per City Code Section 3-8-30(b): "All materials, services, and construction contracts, except as otherwise provided in this Article, with an estimated cost greater than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00), shall be awarded through the formal solicitation procedure or the formal RFP process by the City Council. After due notice inviting bids, purchase orders and contracts shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Formal Bids were requested from qualified Contractors for the project 23-007963 Design Sable Blvd Improvements.
The City of Brighton Public Works Department prepared a request for proposals to perform design work in multiple phases and post design services for Sable Blvd from 120th Avenue to Bromley Lane, approximately five miles of roadway.
Sable Blvd was formerly State Highway 2 owned by the Colorado Department of Transportation until 2011 when it was transferred to the City of Brighton. The roadway segment is unique with the conservation easements, agricultural, mixed with residential, and parallel to US-85. Additionally, the route is a key entry point to the City of Brighton that will serve as an icon of the history and future of the city.
