PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval for the procurement of the 25-009092 Transportation Preservation and Improvements Project - Asphalt. The contract is to be awarded to A-1 Chipseal Company, deemed the most responsive and responsible bidder of the one bid received in response to the published solicitation. Additionally, approving the resolution gives the City Manager, or designee, the authority to sign the contract. Per City Code Section 3-8-30(b): “All materials, services, and construction contracts, except as otherwise provided in this Article, with an estimated cost greater than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) shall be awarded through the formal solicitation procedure by the City Council. After due notice inviting bids, purchase orders and contracts shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.”

 

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

The City of Brighton Public Works Department conducts annual street repair and maintenance projects. The scope of work includes seal coating, milling, patching, public information, and all other tasks necessary to complete the project. Additionally, the project incorporates traffic calming features.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Sufficient appropriation exists for the project.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends awarding the bid submitted by A-1 Chipseal Company in the amount of $2,607,724. This bid has been deemed the lowest, most responsive, and responsible among those received.
