PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of Change Order #002 for the 2019 Street Preservation Project to A-1 Chipseal Company in the amount of $467,600.00, and approving the funds required to execute the change order, and giving the Acting City Manager authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, ". . . . All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the city council," and Section 3.08.175 ".....All change orders greater than $25,000.00 or change orders in aggregate greater than 25% of the original contract amount shall be approved by City Council."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Formal Bids were requested from qualified Contractors for the 2019 Street Preservation Project.
The City of Brighton Public Works department conducts annual projects for street repairs and maintenance. The primary work consists of areas for seal coats ranging from slurry seal to hot chip and including chip seal, subgrade preparations, pavement markings, milling, patching, striping, and all other work associated to complete the project. The Change Order #002 extends the project limits and adds quantities to the existing contract at the existing unit prices.
Only one (1) formal bid was received on April 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM, where the original contract was awarded by City Council. The budget approved for 2019 has adequate funding to pay for the change order and no additional funds are being requested.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding was approved in the budget for the 2019 Street Preservation Project, including the proposed change order. The change order for A-1 Chipseal Co. ...
