BACKGROUND
In April 2024, City Council approved a contract with DHM Design Corporation for $932,212.00 to complete the design for the proposed sports complex at Southern Street and South 40th Avenue.

Design work has been underway since that time. After the 65% design submittal, the construction cost estimate exceeded the initial projections. To bring the project back within the construction budget, the City directed DHM Design Corporation to lead a value engineering effort. This process included adjusting amenities and expanding the site by approximately 7.5 acres to the south on City owned property. These changes reduced costs related to grading, stormwater infrastructure, roadway impacts, and other site related work, while still maintaining the functionality and quality of the sports complex.
