PURPOSE
To amend certain portions of Chapter 3, the Tax Code and certain portions of Chapter 5, the Licensing Code to streamline the business license process.

BACKGROUND
Staff presented proposed amendments at the Study Session on December 10, 2019. City Council directed staff to prepare the amendments for formal consideration at a future Council meeting.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The streamlined process proposed would consolidate the business license and sales tax license into one document and eliminate the sales tax license fee. Annual revenue from business and sales tax licenses is estimated to decrease $20,000 with the streamlined process.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Approve the proposed ordinance amendments.
