PURPOSE
The purpose of the Brighton Core City Circulation Study is to evaluate options that will enhance transportation safety and improve access along Bridge Street-from the South Platte River to 22nd Avenue-while strengthening connections to downtown Brighton.
BACKGROUND / HISTORY
This project is funded through DRCOG’s new Community-Based Transportation Planning Set-Aside program. Bridge Street has been identified as part of the high injury network in DRCOG’s Taking Action on Regional Vision Zero Plan, highlighting the need for targeted safety improvements. The technical assistance provided through this program is specifically aimed at addressing mobility challenges faced by historically marginalized communities across the region.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The recommendations outlined in this document will be considered during the City’s budgeting process. At that time, the City will evaluate and prioritize the proposed actions and allocate funding for selected projects. Currently, there is no financial commitment to implement any of the recommendations.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council adopt the Brighton Core City Circulation Plan to serve as a guiding framework for future transportation planning efforts.
