PURPOSE
To appoint by Resolution a member to the Downtown Development Authority.
BACKGROUND
On March 3, 2026, City Council approved Ordinance 2497 creating the Downtown Development Authority (the “DDA”). Membership will consist of six members that must be “qualified electors” of the Authority, as defined in Section 31-25-802(9) of the Colorado Revised Statutes, or may be a manager, agent, or employee of a business within the DDA. For the initial appointments Ordinance 2497 requires that the terms of two members shall expire on June 30, 2028, the terms of two members shall expire on June 30, 2027, and the terms of two members shall expire on June 30, 2026. However, since their terms will expire prior to the first meeting of the DDA, the members being appointed to the terms that expire on June 30, 2026, will instead be appointed to four-year terms expiring on June 30, 2030.
Per Section 11 of Ordinance 2497, City staff conducted the interviews and is making recommendations to the City Council for appointment of candidates for the initial vacancies.
There are currently six vacancies on the DDA. Staff conducted interviews and are recommending the appointment of six (6) members.
