PURPOSE
The Purpose of the AGREEMENT FOR DISASTER-EMERGENCY MUTUAL AID AND DISASTER-EMERGENCY FUNDING ASSISTANCE IN AND BETWEEN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, hereafter referred to as the IGA, is to set the terms and provisions for local mutual aid assistance and cost sharing during emergencies and disasters.
The IGA refers to any type of disaster resources which could be needed within Adams County that is not already covered under an existing agreement (i.e. IGA for MCCU, North Metro Fire Chief's Mutual Aid Agreement, Law Enforcement Mutual Aid, etc.). The provisions of the IGA may be applied in both declared disasters/emergencies and non-declared disasters/emergencies. M
Generally, signatories to this IGA are able to request and receive (as available) emergency assistance from both Adams County and other municipalities party to the IGA. The IGA supports the provision of mutual aid (no cost assistance) for the first twelve (12) hours from the time the resource is dispatched. After the initial (twelve) 12 hour period, the responding agency may choose to continue to provide mutual aid, or may charge the requesting party at the rate provided when agreeing to respond.
BACKGROUND
This IGA was developed in 2012 to standardize response and resource sharing expectations among municipalities within Adams County and to clearly outline expectations of cost, roles, and responsibilities in both requesting and providing emergency resource assistance within Adams County.
