BACKGROUND
On April 28, 2020, the City will hold a Special Election to fill the open Ward 2 seat and four (4) candidates will be listed on the ballot for the open Ward 2 Council Member position. If no candidate for Council Member from Ward 2 receives a majority of the votes cast for such office as required in Article III, Section 3.6 of the City of Brighton Charter, a run-off election is required and will take place on May 26, 2020 between the two (2) candidates who received the highest number of votes for the position. Once the April 28th Special Election is complete, if it is determined that a Special Run-off Election is required, the City Clerk will prepare a Resolution for City Council consideration at its special meeting on April 30th that will set the ballot content (names of the two candidates for the Ward 2 position) and address such other issues associated with the special election as publishing the notice of election, mailing the ballots, appointing election judges, and designating the location of the election.
