PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of a formal bid for the 2018 Street Preservation Project to the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the Mayor authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, ". . . . All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the City Council."
BACKGROUND
Formal Bids were requested from qualified Contractors for the 2018 Street Preservation Project.
The City of Brighton Streets department conducts annual projects for street repairs and maintenance. For 2018, the department has prepared a preservation project that will have two (2) bid alternates. The primary work will consist of spot patching areas, crack sealing, and then placing a seal coat material. The project will also incorporate the first alley to receive a seal coat under the pilot program for alley maintenance.
One (1) formal bid was received on March 9, 2018 at 3:00 PM. The bid was opened and read into the record by the Procurement & Contracts Manager at a public bid opening.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding was approved in the budget for the 2018 Street Preservation Project. The bid from A-1 Chipseal Co. of $1,577,971.25 including all the alternates is within the budgeted amount for the project.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
