BACKGROUND
Phase 1 of Founders Plaza was completed in 2020. In late July 2021, the City of Brighton received notice that it has been awarded $385,000.00 in grant funding from Adams County. The grant funding will complete the Founders Plaza and will include: enhanced colored concrete events area, trellis shelter and covered picnic tables, festoon lighting, a small activity/concert area, location for the annual Christmas tree, additional seating, and additional trees for shade.
The total cost for the "Founders Plaza Phase 2 Project" is estimated at $700,000.00. This project is the combination of both this grant request and the City's matching funds. The grant funding of $385,000.00 (55.0% of total project cost) matches the City's cash match of $315,000.00 (45.0% of total). The City Attorney has reviewed as to form the Grant Agreement and confirms that it is Adams County's standard agreement and that the terms are reasonable. The attached Resolution allows the City of Brighton, through the City Council to enter into the Agreement with Adams County and to allow the City Manager to sign and execute the Grant Agreement.
