PURPOSE
To allocate a portion of lodging tax reserve funds to the Brighton City Museum.
BACKGROUND
The lodging tax fund has additional funding available in reserve that can be allocated on items that advance economic development, promote tourism, and encourage special events and cultural arts facilities and activities within the City. The attached resolution allows for the City to match $250,000 that have been provided to the City by the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority, utilizing $250,000 of lodging tax fund reserves.
CRITERIA BY WHICH COUNCIL MUST CONSIDER THE ITEM
City Council may directly allocate from the fund’s reserves for projects that advance economic development, promote tourism, and encourage special events and cultural arts facilities and activities within the City.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total financial impact of this resolution is $250,000 and is included in the 2026 budget.

Staff is recommending approval of this resolution.
