PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of formal solicitation for project # 21-006790 to the most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the City Manager, or Designee, authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, "...All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the City Council."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Observatory Park is a 10.8 acre park located at Bromley Lane and S. 22nd Ave. The park was built in the mid 90's and the original playground is still in use. This is the oldest playground in Brighton's park system. We are looking to replace this outdated playground structure with a new, modern playground.
Formal proposals were requested from qualified playground installation vendors. The work to be completed includes: New pour-in-place surfacing and an astronomy themed playground with ADA accessible sensory panel features.
Formal proposals were received May 11, 2021. Five (5) firms submitted proposals for this project. All proposals were reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Department.
The five (5) firms submitting proposals are:
A to Z Recreation - $215,000.00
Rocky Mountain Recreation Inc. - $214,847.80
Churchich Recreation LLC - $177,861.00
The Playwell Group, INC - $214,977.47
Star Playgrounds - $215,000.00
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Sufficient appropriation exists for the project, with $225,000 budgeted this year.
