PURPOSE
A presentation offered by the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) and Progressive Urban Management Associates (P.U.M.A.). The presentation will include an update on the progress of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) formation process since last presented to the city council earlier in the year.  Details of the work completed by P.U.M.A., the DDA Steering Committee, and stakeholders thus far will be shared.  In addition, an explanation of where the process currently stands, and an outline of next steps will be presented.  Representatives from P.U.M.A and BURA will be present to share details and answer questions from City Council members.

BACKGROUND

Brighton’s Core Downtown Urban Renewal Area will sunset in 2027, which has prompted the need to identify an alternative funding mechanism dedicated to the ongoing vitality of downtown Brighton.  BURA’s Executive Director and staff have been working with P.U.M.A since the firm was hired as its consultant in 2024.  Progress is being completed in phases and has included input and participation from various stakeholders and partners.  Meetings with Brighton City Council Members is part of the DDA formation plan.
