PURPOSE
A Resolution authorizing the City of Brighton to submit to Adams County Open Space, an Open Space Mini-Grant Application requesting grant funding in the amount not to exceed $4,600.00 for the "Carmichael Park Tree Planting Project"; and to authorize the City Manager to sign the Grant Application.
BACKGROUND
The Carmichael Park Master Plan shows trees that need to be planted on the east side of the park (presently "cover" grass on a berm), just west of the Libretto Apartments. At the time of the park construction funding was not available for the planting of the trees in this area. Two volunteer groups in Brighton have expressed interest in completing a tree planting project within Carmichael Park. Due to the huge success of previous planting projects within Brighton and upon funding through this Adams County Open Space Mini-Grant application, the Parks Section of the Parks and Recreation Department will work with the community volunteers to plant 35 trees on the berm on the east side of Carmichael Park.
The total amount of the proposed Carmichael Park Tree Planting Project is $7,670.00. The City's match for this Project is $3,070.00 (40 % of the total) for the purchase of a portion of the 35 trees and in-kind labor to plant the trees.
