PURPOSE
A Resolution authorizing the City of Brighton to submit to Adams County Open Space an Active Grant Application requesting grant funding in the amount not to exceed $550,000.00 for the "Downtown Plaza Park - Phase 1"; and to authorize the City Manager to sign the grant application.
BACKGROUND
The City of Brighton, during the past year, has been working with Brighton Urban Renewal Authority to create a park in Downtown Brighton. The site for the park is located at the southwest corner of Bridge Street and Main Street. This is a highly visible corner in Brighton. The property, which presently contains a large building, was purchased and is now sitting vacant. The goal for the site is to demolish the old vacant building and to create a new "plaza style" park in Downtown. In 2017, the City hired Norris Design to develop a Downtown Plaza Master Plan with conceptual drawings for the site.
The Master Plan was completed in October 2017. After demolition of the site the preferred design of the Downtown Plaza Park was estimated to be over $2,300,000.00. For this reason, the project will be phased, with the greatest amount of cost in the first phase.
