Department of Parks and Recreation
Reference: Solicitation of Naming Rights for the Brighton RecPlex
To: Mayor Gregory Mills and Members of City Council
Through: Michael P. Martinez, City Manager
Prepared By: Ryan Smith, Parks Planning, Development, and Grant Manager
Date Prepared: June 18, 2026
PURPOSE
Requesting City Council’s consideration of authorizing the Parks and Recreation Department to solicit the sale of the naming rights at the Brighton RecPlex.
BACKGROUND
The City of Brighton Parks and Recreation Department has been working on the design for the future Brighton RecPlex. The RecPlex will be a regional sports site with a Tri-plex baseball/softball field that also incorporate other sports, two multi-purpose “pod” fields that allow for all sports, and a park included within the site. The RecPlex will have significant amenities that the Parks and Recreation Department can quantify for the sale of naming rights to raise additional capital funding for the construction of the RecPlex.
The three proposed areas at the Brighton RecPlex that will allow for the sale of the naming rights are the tri-plex field, the multi-purpose fields, and the overall complex naming rights. The Parks and Recreation Department and the Procurement Department will solicit this process out for a competitive bidding opportunity. The goal of selling naming rights at the RecPlex will be to raise significant capital to help with the construction the Brighton RecPlex.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
No financial impact at this time. The goal is to bring more capital dollars to the City of Brighton for the construction of the Brighton RecPlex.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends, at a future regular meeting, City Council approve a resolution authorizing City staff to solicit the sale of the naming rights for the Brighton RecPlex and authorize the City Manager to undertake such tasks as may be required to finalize the sale of any naming rights.
