To:                                                               Mayor Gregory Mills and Members of City Council

Through:                                          Michael P. Martinez, City Manager

Prepared By:                     Catrina Asher, Finance Director on behalf of the Brighton Legacy Foundation

Date Prepared:                     September 9, 2025

PURPOSE

To provide City Council with an update on the activities of the Brighton Legacy Foundation.

BACKGROUND

The Brighton Legacy Foundation (BLF) is a non-profit organization formed to support community organizations serving the Brighton community. The majority of BLF’s funding is derived from an annual contribution from the City of Brighton to support BLF’s operations, and the majority of funds are used as grants to local non-profit organizations.

This update will be presented by BLF representatives Rhianon Collins, Co-Chair, and Yvette Martinez, Treasurer.

CRITERIA BY WHICH COUNCIL MUST CONSIDER THE ITEM

This item is largely informational in nature. BLF is requesting a $25,000 increase in the City’s contributions in 2026 which, if approved, would be funded through the General Fund. Council should consult with the City Manager’s Office regarding budget availability.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

If an increase in funding is desired, the proposed expenditure budget for the General Fund for 2026 would increase by $25,000.
