PURPOSE

The Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) and Progressive Urban Management Associates (P.U.M.A.) will provide an overview of the DDA election ordinance. P.U.M.A. will explain next steps as the November election date draws near. Representatives from P.U.M.A. and BURA will be present to share details and answer questions from City Council members.

 

BACKGROUND

Brighton’s Core Downtown Urban Renewal Area sunsets in 2027, which has prompted the need to identify an alternative funding mechanism dedicated to the ongoing vitality of downtown Brighton.  BURA’s executive director and staff have been working with P.U.M.A. since the firm was hired as its consultant in 2024.  Progress is being completed in phases and has included input and participation from various stakeholders and partners.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

To proceed with putting the DDA Questions on the November 2025 ballot.
