PURPOSE
To finalize the 2025 employee benefits.
STRATEGIC FOCUS AREA
Financially Responsible
BACKGROUND
The City of Brighton continues to enjoy a long working relationship with HUB International, which serves as our benefits broker. Nathan Wolfe, HUB Vice President and Kelsee Heller, Account Executive, have assisted us over the many years and continue to help us achieve our goal of providing our employees with high-quality and comprehensive benefits.
In 2019, the City moved to UMR, with United Healthcare as the provider, and RX Benefits for medical and prescription cost control. This has proven to be cost-effective for the City as well as for the consumer for many years, but with the rising cost of RX benefits over the last few years, the City no longer can absorb the full increased costs. For 2025, the City has decided to push some of the increased costs to the employees.
The Zero Card program was implemented in 2020 and is a medical program that does not go through UMR. We will retain this program with no increase to our administrative costs in 2025.
Healthcare benefits for 2025:
* Medical costs will increase.
* Delta Dental costs will decrease.
* VSP costs will remain the same.
The Telehealth program has been very successful in saving employees time and money and keeps the City's medical costs down. The cost for this benefit will remain the same in 2025.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The approved budget for 2025 has sufficient funds to cover the benefit increase.
