PURPOSE
Adopting a Resolution for naming the Neighborhood Park in Southgate Subdivision, located south of 120th on Foley Road, the "ORAN AND ROSA FOLEY PARK".
BACKGROUND
City Council has adopted a Resolution establishing a policy for Park Naming. The City Clerk has received one Park Naming Petition for the naming of the Neighborhood Park located in the Southgate Subdivision. The Park and Recreation Advisory Board reviewed the Park Naming Petition and determined it meets all the requirements of the Park Naming Policy.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board held a public meeting on March 7, 2018 to solicit additional input on the proposed name. At the Park and Recreation Advisory Board meeting on March 7, 2018 the Park and Recreation Advisory Board unanimously approved a motion to recommend to the City Council that the Neighborhood Park in the Southgate Subdivision located south of 120th on Foley Road Brighton, Colorado be named "Oran and Rosa Foley Park.
Oran and Rosa Foley moved toe Brighton in 1895. Living and working on the Bromley Farm. In 1917 they purchased their farm located at 120the and Potomac where they were dairy farmers and raised sugar beets. They were active in the Brighton community serving on the school board and donating to the first Community Hospital.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
No Financial Impact on the City. Developer will the install Park Identification sign.
