PURPOSE
To update the City Attorney Contract and Review Process and provide direction to staff as to how to proceed.

BACKGROUND
Mayor Kreutzer and Councilmember Johnston interviewed independent, outside attorneys to review the contract for City Attorney Jack Bajorek and create an annual assessment tool and review process that provides direction and constructive feedback. Attorney Joseph Rivera, Murray, Dahl, Beery & Renaud LLP, was selected.
Attorney Rivera met with City Council in Executive Session on August 6, 2019 and received direction from City Council.
CRITERIA BY WHICH COUNCIL MUST CONSIDER THE ITEM
Council must discuss the proposed evaluation format and questions attached to this document and make any changes or additions Councils deems necessary in order to proceed with the annual evaluation of City Attorney Jack Bajorek.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Council must decide if the compensation for the City Attorney should be adjusted at the time the addendum is adopted.
OPTIONS FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
1. Approve the proposed evaluation forms, process and contract addendum as presented.
2. City Council can give staff further direction.
