Date Prepared: October 10, 2025
PURPOSE
To have Council adopt the proposed fees and charges to be assessed by the City of Brighton for 2026.
BACKGROUND
The proposed fee resolution for 2026 includes the addition of fees for new programs, removal of fees no longer charged, a clarification of fees charged and inflation related increases to the building division attachment, and lastly, utility rates and impact fees have been updated per discussions with Council in August. The details of these changes can be found in the attached resolution and the redline version which shows the changes in red.
Staff is requesting the adoption of this resolution so as to allow staff ample time to communicate changes to the public prior to January 1, 2026. These recommendations were developed through close consultation between the Budget & Performance Team, and the departments charging each fee and reflect income necessary for continued levels of service as well as a review of fees and charges implemented by neighboring communities.
