PURPOSE
Review of the Ken Mitchell Park and Open Space master Plan and Development schedule.

BACKGROUND

In 2015 the Master Plan for the development of the Ken Mitchell Park and Open Space was completed.  The Master Plan developed Ken Mitchell as a regional park.  The development was to occur over a 20 year span with a total cost of $20,000,000.

The development included the Colorado Front Range Trail from the Southern Street Trail Head to E-470 where the county trail begins.  The plan include developing a new entrance off of Brighton Road into the Aichelmen Property and a roadway system back to Cell 2 which will become the active area of the park.  The Aichelmen house will be developed into a nature center and the office for the Park.  The development will include renovation of the house, bring in utilities: water, sewer electrical, and construction of the road, parking and maintenance facilities.

The second phase will be the development of Cell 3.  This will include construction of soft surface trails around the lake, improve the fish habitat, and wildlife habitat improvements

The next phase will be the development of Cell 2 which include the active amenities.  This activity amenities are soccer field, roads, parking lots, restroom, alignment of 3rd Creek drainage, and wildlife habitat improvements.

The Last phase will be the development of the swim beach/boating lake. Construction of this phase will be dependent on the County acquisition of the willow Bay property and how the lake is developed.
