PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of a formal bid for the 2017 CIP Patch and Overlay Project to the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the Mayor authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, ". . . . All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the City Council."
BACKGROUND
Formal Bids were requested from qualified Contractors for the 2017 CIP Patch and Overlay Project.
The City of Brighton performs annual street maintenance projects involving a multitude of maintenance activities on streets consisting of asphalt patching, subgrade repairs, mill and overlays, striping and a variety of other components. For 2017 the City has identified areas for milling, overlaying, patching, striping, and a section of roadway designated for complete removal and reconstruction.
Three (3) formal bids were received on May 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The bids received were opened and read into the record by the Procurement & Contracts Manager at a public bid opening.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding was approved in the 2017 budget for the 2017 CIP Patch and Overlay Project. The bid from Asphalt Specialties Company of $1,564,175.25 with a bid alternate of $125,019.00 for the 2017 CIP Patch Overlay Project for a total of $1,689,194.25 is within the budgeted amount for the project.
