STRATEGIC FOCUS AREA
Facilities, Amenities, and Open Space
BACKGROUND
During the springs of 2012 through 2018, the Parks and Recreation Department have worked with high school seniors from Brighton High School on park beautification projects. The seniors have completed seven beautification projects within the City’s Open Space and Parks instead of participating in “Senior Ditch Day”. The City realizes that the Brighton Sports Complex is in need of additional trees throughout the complex, and this eighth High School Seniors’ Beautification Project will occur in May 2019. Payment for a portion of the trees is what was funded with this Adams County Open Space Mini-Grant.
The total cost for the High School Seniors Beautification Project at Brighton Sports Complex (“Project”) is $12,070.00. This Adams County Mini-Grant funded project is the combination of both this grant funding and City’s matching funds. The Adams County Open Space Mini-Grant funding is $5,000.00 (41.4% of total) and it will match the City’s cash match of $7,070.00 (58.6% of total). The City has budgeted this cash match in the 2019 Recreation Capital Fund.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Signing the Grant Agreement with Adams County will allow the City of Brighton to receive $5,000.00 that will be used for the Project. The City has budgeted the match of $7,070.00 in the 2019 Recreation Capital Budget. The total cost for the Project is $12,070.00.
