PURPOSE

To provide an update on the 2019 Sculpture on Loan Sculpture Walk selections.

BACKGROUND

In 2011, the City established the Eye for Art (E4A) program with the goal of acquiring artwork for the new City Hall, and a secondary goal to include large artwork/sculptures for the grounds surrounding the building when funding was available.
The Sculpture on Loan program addresses the secondary goal set for E4A for the placement of large artwork/sculpture on the grounds surrounding the City Hall building. The 2016 placement of two pieces acquired through the E4A program and placed in front of City Hall provided the visibility for later promoting the Sculpture Walk at Carmichael Park.
The Sculpture on Loan program officially launched at the end of 2017 with the selection of five large sculptures placed along the walkways in Carmichael Park. Two of the pieces have been selected for permanent placement in the City.
In November, we began our call for art for our 2019 Sculpture Walk. We received more than 100 art pieces for review. In February, a selection committee consisting of members of the Brighton Cultural Arts Commission, Eye 4 Art committee, Brighton High School students, local art organizations and a City Council representative met to review the submissions. The review panel selected five sculptures to be featured in this year's Sculpture Walk. They include:

2. "Play Ball" by Damian Radice, Grand Junction
3. "Raptoround: Standing Proud" by Chuck and Dee Weaver, Fort Collins
