Through:                                          Marv Falconburg, Acting City Manager

Date Prepared:                     November 22, 2019

PURPOSE:

Per City Ordinance 2121 Section 3-40-170 b, the Brighton Lodging Tax Advisory Committee shall consist of:

                     Two (2) members shall be representatives of lodging providers located within the corporate limits of the City;

                     Two (2) members from the Board of Directors of the Brighton Economic Development Corporation;

                     One (1) member from the City Council;

                     Two (2) at-large members who are residents of the City;

                     The City Manager, nonvoting ex officio; and

                     Two (2) alternates who are residents of the City.

The purpose of this code change is to change the two at-large members to two members from the Brighton Cultural Arts Commission per the direction of City Council from the November 12, 2019 study session.

BACKGROUND

On November 7, 2019 the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee met and considered a proposal from Council Member Wallin to update the membership of the committee to reflect equal representation from the Board of Directors of the Brighton Economic Development Corporation and the Brighton Cultural Arts Committee. This make-up reflects the current make-up of the committee as both current at-large members are also members of the Brighton Cultural Arts Commission. The committee wished to preserve its current state as business has been conducted especially efficiently and to the satisfaction of all affiliated groups involved over the past two years.
