Date Prepared:                     07/07/2020

PURPOSE

Requesting City Council approve two ordinances,  one for an easement and one for a Lease to Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (Metro) on the 124th Avenue Reservoir Property.  The easement is for access to their project from 124th Avenue and the Lease is to accommodate construction activity associated with the Construction of the Sanitary Sewer on the south side of the property.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY

Metro has designed and prepared to construct this pipeline for years.  They have evaluated all the properties along the alignment and believe that their most economical approach is to access their project from the north side of the 124th Avenue Reservoir property, through the property on the west side to the project on the south side.  Metro approached staff, Utilities and Legal staff negotiated term and conditions to protect the City and recommend the documents for approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The easement will not adversely affect the value or operation of the facilities.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the approval of the easement and of the lease to Metro for use in their construction and maintenance of the pipeline project.
