PURPOSE

To provide an overview and updates about the implementation of the District Plan and farmland preservation, including the process for acquiring and leasing land in the Historic Splendid Valley.

BACKGROUND

The District Plan was adopted in 2016 as a joint plan for the City and Adams County. The goals of this award-winning plan are to preserve agricultural land and heritage, encourage local food production and consumption, and promote agritourism in the south Brighton area known as Historic Splendid Valley.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS/STAFF ANALYSIS

This presentation will provide an overview of the District Plan’s goals and action items, as well as updates on the status of its implementation. Staff will specifically focus on the City’s progress on farmland preservation and the status of its farmland leases.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

There are no recommendations for further action at this time.
