PURPOSE

Requesting City Council's approval of the procurement for 21-007057 ADA Restrooms at Historic City Hall Construction by awarding a contract to American Construction Services, the most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the City Manager, or designee, authority to sign the contract. Per City Code Section 3-8-90 " All materials, supplies, equipment, service and construction contracts, except as otherwise provided in this Article, with an estimated cost of greater than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00), shall be awarded through the formal bid process or the formal RFP process by the City Council. After due notice inviting bids, purchase orders and contracts shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder."

BACKGROUND

This project proposal is to renovate the first floor bathrooms in Historic City Hall to ensure that they are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Prior to demolition, these bathrooms did not provide sufficient space to accommodate people with disabilities. Renovation of these bathrooms will provide ample space for people who use wheelchairs, automated doors, and other accessories such as a fire alarm system.

In 2021, the City of Brighton was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from Adams County, an agreement approved by Council.
