BACKGROUND

Lutz Reservoir was planned as a water storage reservoir to provide non-potable irrigation to Prairie Center. An Agreement was previously brought to City Council on December 7, 2021 (Prairie Center Village V Development Agreement) that requires Prairie Center to deed Lutz Reservoir and the surrounding open space to the City by December 31, 2022. The City will design, construct and operate Lutz Reservoir as a non-potable reservoir to serve commercial development, parks and open spaces. Several improvements have already occurred at Lutz by others including a slurry wall and bank protection measures. This project will design the pump station and appurtenances to charge the existing non-potable waterlines with non-potable water for irrigation. The City has also applied to several funding opportunities to assist with the future construction costs.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Sufficient appropriation exists for the project in the 2022 budget.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council award the project to JR Engineering, LLC in an amount not to exceed $578,326.95.
