PURPOSE
Requesting City Council approval of a formal solicitation for the Traffic Signal at 27th and Southern Project to the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the Mayor authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, ". . . . All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the city council."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
After a traffic investigation, it was determined that a traffic signal was required for the intersection of 27th Avenue and Southern Street. A design consultant was solicited followed by a design to improve the intersection with a traffic signal. As part of the design and planned implementation of the traffic signal, additional improvements to the road and walkways are required and have been planned. The scope of work will require obtaining a power connection, installing the subsurface structures, the communication lines, modifying the existing street layout, adding curb ramps and A.D.A. components to the signals, and lighting on the signal poles. Further, the work will also consist of all the required construction such as potholing, boring lines, traffic control, surveying, and final closeout of the project.

An Optional Pre-Bid Conference was held with four attendees.
