PURPOSE
A Resolution authorizing the City of Brighton to enter into a Grant Agreement with Adams County, for grant funding in the amount not to exceed $363,000.00 for the "Brighton Park Destination Playgrounds" project; and authorizing the City's matching obligation of $312,000.00; and authorizing the City Manager to sign and execute the Grant Agreement.
BACKGROUND
During the 2017 City of Brighton budget process, the Parks and Recreation Department realized that there was a need over the next 5 to 6 years to replace playgrounds that have reached their life expectancy or need to be upgraded to meet current ADA guidelines. The Parks Division of the Department had created a playground replacement recommendation list based upon the life expectancy and upgrades that are needed with every playground in the City's Park system.
The "Brighton Park Destination Playgrounds" project is for two playgrounds. At the January 10, 2017 City Council Study Session, the Parks and Recreation Department expressed an interest in applying for an Adams County Open Space Active Grant to replace the two oldest playgrounds.
