PURPOSE
To request City Council approval of a formal solicitation for the 50 North Main Flooding Mitigation and Chase Drain Replacement project to the most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the Mayor authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, "...All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the city council."
BACKGROUND
The City has previously installed two trench drains at each run on either side of an alley near 50 North Main St. These trench drains were installed directly adjacent to the foundations of the buildings next to the alley. Over time, water in the trench drains began to leak through the building foundations into the buildings themselves, creating a flooding issue and potential liability to the City. As a separate issue, there are 7 chase drains that run at different points along Main St. that have historically drained poorly. The 50 North Main Flooding Mitigation and Chase Drain Replacement project is designed to solve these problems.
