Reference: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRIGHTON, COLORADO, ACTING BY AND THROUGH ITS WATER ACTIVITY ENTERPRISE, ACCEPTING THE BID OF IMEG CORPORATION AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE GREENSAND FILTER EFFLUENT LINE REPAIR PROJECT TO IMEG CORPORATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED SEVENTEEN DOLLARS ($582,617.00); AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST THERETO.

PURPOSE
To request City Council approval of a formal solicitation for the Greensand Filter Effluent Line Repair project to the most responsive and responsible bidder, and approving the resolution giving the Mayor authority to sign the contract. Municipal Code Section 3.08.090, ". . . . All bids and proposals in excess of $50,000 shall be awarded through formal written procedures by the city council."
BACKGROUND/HISTORY
This is a design/build project that encompasses the following three components:
* Design and construction solution for the 4 filter effluent lines that are leaking
* Design and construction for air gap modifications and/or backwash tank overflow pipe
* Construction of scaffolding in the Greensand Water Treatment Plant
The 4 filter effluent lines are currently leaking at the penetrations through the concrete wall in the Greensand Water Treatment Plant. Leaking is occurring at the Victaulic couplings and between the pipe and concrete at the wall penetrations. The leaking has become significant and water staff is concerned about failure of the effluent lines.
